The animals of Manor Farm have revolted and taken over. Upon the death of Old Major, pigs Snowball and Napoleon lead a revolt against Mr. Jones, driving him from the farm. The animals embrace the Seven Commandments of Animalism and life carries on, but they learn that a farm ruled by animals looks more human than ever.
So out of the many of the common "literary works" you read in American public schools I think this one really holds up and pretty easy to understand. Though haphazardly applied to many situations I still think it teaches a decent lesson that most benefit from. Even if you don't get the far from subtle message it is still a entertaining story. I liked the horse

My librarian told me that this us bit necessarily an anti communist book but rather an anti corruption book, so I did not look at it from a political perspective. Animal Farm is a fun book to read if you want to have a fun intro to George Orwell and his books. It's easy, there's some dark elements, and it's nice for a quick shift in style. It's not my book style personally (I like stuff like Firebreak), but I feel like it is unfair to compare a grand classic to a fairly insignificant modern dystopian novel. It's a fun book to read if you want a fun and dark weekend read that is also a classic book.
